About Belize Canopy Project

About

Belize Canopy Project is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to restoring and protecting Belize’s native forests through the planting of culturally and ecologically significant trees. Our focus is on planting native Mahogany and Mayflower trees to support biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and preserve Belize’s natural heritage for future generations.

Why Native Trees Matter

Belize’s forests play a critical role in protecting wildlife, stabilizing soil, supporting local communities, and regulating the climate. Native tree species such as Mahogany and Mayflower are deeply connected to Belize’s ecological balance and cultural identity, yet these forests face ongoing pressure from development and deforestation.

By focusing on native species, Belize Canopy Project helps ensure that reforestation efforts are sustainable, meaningful, and aligned with the natural environment.

  • Native Mahogany and Mayflower seedling sourcing
  • Tree planting and site preparation
  • Community-supported reforestation efforts
  • Long-term forest regeneration and environmental impact

Our Donation Model

Each donation of US$10 funds the planting of one native tree. Donor contributions are used exclusively to support tree planting and reforestation activities, allowing supporters from Belize and around the world to participate directly in restoring native forests.

Transparency & Accountability

Belize Canopy Project is a nonprofit initiative currently in formation. Transparency and accountability are central to our mission. Supporters receive updates on planting activities and outcomes, demonstrating real, on-the-ground impact.
